About Ashim
Ashim is the founder and CEO of Stem Capital. He has deep expertise in health care, financial services, insurance, digital transformation and retail. Business model shifts, analytics, and digital technologies have been foundational enablers in the transformation of organizations Ashim has led. He has been involved in over 40 merger & acquisition transactions. Ashim’s focal point has been on shaping and advancing firm-building, culture-focused activities while retaining a keen competitive and commercial focus.
Ashim has served in a number of leadership roles over his career, including as the President of Medcan Health, Medavie Blue Cross, and Allianz Life. He was also the CHRO & Chief Development Officer of Sobeys, Senior Vice President of Liberty Health (now Manulife), and the CEO of Aon Consulting. Ashim serves as a board member of Russell Investments and Leap | Pecaut Centre for Social Impact.
Ashim earned his MBA (Global) from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto and his MA (International Relations) from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. He is a certified director (ICD.D), and holds several industry designations.
Ashim is the author of Canadian Group Insurance Benefits: A Practitioner’s Guide & Reference Manual and co-authored Global Health Care Systems—A perspective on issues, practices and trends among OECD nations.
